Some more photos courtesy of Ted & Lorraine N.O.M.E.-sing along with the Muttonpoofs as we trek to see Lizzie’s courtroom, Marion and high jinx back at the Borden House. The house being renovated is on Green St. in Fairhaven- Emma Borden’s alibi abode!  Our Victorian destination this year was historic Blithewold mansion and gardens for Daffodil Days in nearby Bristol.

An exciting new series of Lizzie “Mini” films made its appearance today featuring our recent trip to the Bence gravesite on November 10th.  Fellow “Mutton Eater” Richard Behrens and Garden Bay Films has created the first in a series of Lizzie-related mini-documentaries about case related people and places which is sure to find an appreciative audience among Bordenites everywhere.  What a great idea!  Looking forward to much more to come.

The first meeting of the new Second Street Irregulars went without a hitch this past weekend and all the flock has returned to the “pen” tired but happy.  It was a weekend of learning and laughing, “grazing” and kicking up our hooves, with many people to thank for enriching our program:  Deputy Chief Ralph Tavares is high on our list, providing the most comprehensive and enjoyable tour of “Lizzie’s” New Bedford Courthouse, Len Rebello for an amazingly detailed and instructive city walk around Fall River, Fairhaven Tourism Director, Chris Richards for an entertaining walking tour and peep into Victorian Fairhaven structures and commentary about Fairhaven citizens of note, The Abbey Grill staff for a surprise night time tour of Lizzie’s Congregational Rock Street church, White’s Restaurant, Westport, Pumpernickel’s, Fairhaven, and the owners and staff of the Lizzie Borden Bed and Breakfast for making our weekend possible.  Photos and “Sheep Tails/Tales of the weekend events will be posted here and also at the Lizzie Borden Society forum gathering thread at http://lizzieandrewborden.com/LBForum/viewtopic.php?t=3006&start=75

Thanks to all who made the long journey to join us- and let’s see some of those photos and video!

Neither wind nor rain deter the fearless Mutton Eaters

Yesterday’s howling winds and driving rain did not prevent the further adventures of the Mutton Eater’s Planning Team in the quest for finding a good place for lunch on November 10th.  There was also a stop at Riverside Cemetery in Fairhaven where the clammy mausoleum of the Delanos proved a little too creepy for even the stout-hearted Second Street Irregulars.  The foliage is at peak and the photo below is taken near Eli Bence’s plot on an avenue of magical, golden maple trees.  N.O.M.E. Sir Jeff is revelling in the leaves. Our venue for lunch will remain a Classified Top Secret!  Surprises are more fun.

 Fellow Mutton Eaters!

What a great weekend full of unexpected surprises. N.O.M.E. Lady Barbara popped in at #92 and we had a fine time trying on capes and deerstalkers and planning for the 9th. On Friday some of the “flock” went to Fairhaven for a dry run of venues there and were treated to a preview of the town hall.  We also visited Riverside Cemetery and New Bedford.  Today at 2 p.m. there will be a great October tour of Riverside Cemetery by local historian, Sandy Main.  N.O.M.E. Sir Jeffrey is hoping to attend and tell us about that.  We are about four weeks away from our first official gathering.  Details of times and places will be sent to all of you, along with your secret decoder ring, by carrier pigeon very soon !
